[edit] Displaying warnings

I have a preference for putting the warning first, even though the person reading the warning won't understand what the warning means yet.. This is because I'm the kind of person who'll start working through a set of instructions before I've read the whole lot, and coming to the end and finding a "Warning: these instructions are broken and will destroy your data" is.. well, mildly annoying..

I'd rather know up-front that there were things for me to be wary of ahead - even if it isn't immediately clear what the warning is about, at least I know to tread carefully and read all the instructions and figure out what the warning means prior to starting.

A good compromise would be if there was a way to prominently display the warning - eg, putting it in a little frame with a red background, so that anyone skimming the page notices immediately that there's a warning up ahead. I don't know of any way to do this in mediawiki though - do you?

I agree with you. I thought the OPML import was a nasty bug. I will see if there is a way to do what you suggest. --sameer 14:25, 22 Aug 2005 (CEST)
